Hard to think of the Gators as a basketball power. I figured them to blow by George Mason, then wilt in the glare of national championship spotlights. Besides, UCLA has trad-di-SHON, and that, as any sports pundit worth the NaCl will tell you, is what counts in the crunch.
But not this time.
Mets won their opener, too. Of course, I take this as a bad sign. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong, please -- I'm too tired to look it up) that they lost their opening games in '79 and '86.
